Colorful Sonnets

Part One: Red and Blue

By Sam RodasPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Red.

Art thou an apparition of my heart,

Or an aspiration of my mind’s hope

To succumb to the want of real life art

Or to be involved, to thou upon dote.

To see thine in a place of wellbeing

Can make both heart and mind swoon

And when thou leavest with no sure meaning,

Both doth wish thou shall return to us soon.

So think this now, with every parting step,

Of the peasant boy who still deep inside,

Since the moment sweet eyes had his eyes met

Wanted thine, heart and mind, to be his bride.

To the lady in red, I say adieu.

May both my heart and mind always want you.

Blue.

The boy with the blue eyes told me to stay

Without giving me what or reason why

“You should keep from being too far away,”

He whispered as the spark of his eye died.

We both stood on the docks as our eyes met,

I knew the fear of the outside he warned,

The world was but ready for our love yet,

And these moments would soon be only mourned.

The rain kept falling as I ran from him

And I ran as fast as my mind could go

As thoughts of his body, ever so slim.

Made my already burning regret grow.

My feet finally stopped, I turned my head,

I did not find the boy, my heart was dead.
