When I was little, I RED a story about a man who was beaten to death for being gay. “ORANGE you glad you’re normal?” I’d hear people say.
I felt like a YELLOW coward, living a lie. They won’t understand, why even try?
I turned GREEN with envy, when others to thine own selves were true,I hated hiding myself, it made me feel BLUE.
When I finally bared my soul for everyone to see, faces turned PURPLE “you’re going to hell cuz you’re different than me”
Now I know who I am, and I’m not ashamed. I respect your beliefs, even if mine aren’t the same.
Trapped in the dark just because I was bi. Now I’m here and I’m queer, I am fully alive.
I am a light in the world, I take PRIDE in myself. Not living your truth is bad for your health.
I won’t mute my colors cuz your mad I was born. I’m a vibrant RAINBOW, I can weather the storm.
