COLOR ME PURPLE
I pass the mirror, it’s me, all of me
High cheek bones, smooth, chocolate, distinguishing features of my uniqueness, my style,
Mysterious, unapologetic, unstoppable, poetic
My voice behind the tears, the pain, the disappointments, the victories, the triumphs
Look at me, see me, my smile, my personality, my sophistication, my charisma
Yielding my silence, my gifts, my ambition, my shyness, all me
My eyes, oval and brown,
My skin, glistening and glowing
My lips soft, subtle but enhanced by the color, purple
Purple, royalty, beauty that is the woman I am, on the inside
The inside, where honesty, gentleness, love, joy, and peace abide
Peace that comes from knowing tomorrow is another day to be fulfilled, loved, inspired
Inspired by all the beauty that is seen in the color purple
Purple that compliments, flatters, and applauds itself, its uniqueness, its color
Color, distinct, distinguished, classy, appealing, me

CLASSIC MOVE
Just swipe left they said, or up and down or sideways, whatever, it never worked. Beth had been divorced for five years now. She had been married for 8 years and listened to everyone tell her that after seven years, it’s all good. Well, it wasn’t, and it didn’t end well. Beth had finally decided it was time to step out again, for real this time. She missed having that daily touch, and companionship she looked forward to sharing her home with. Her friends had tried over and over to set her up with their friends, relatives and of course, those older people at weddings who felt they had the perfect setup for her. She denied all of them and after many days and nights at home alone with her nightly glass of Merlot, she knew no matter how fancy the glass, it could not take the place of a man.

Wild Card Weekend Recap: What Happens Now?
I think I figured out why I love Wild Card Weekend so much. It's because it's the first playoff anything of the calendar year. The NFL season starts in the fall, and once upon a time, the champion was crowned either on or slightly before New Year's. The evolution of the NFL schedule has resulted in the playoffs starting just into the New Year, and currently, the final week of the season falls on the first weekend of the New Year, with Wild Card Weekend coming a week after that. So yes, chronologically, the NFL's Wild Card Weekend serves as the first playoff anything of the calendar year.
