Color is my keeper

Color is my keeper

I’ve spent so much time in darkness

With pain and those that haunt me

My body, unfamiliar

All I want is to be set free

But color is my keeper

This is how it came to be

Somewhere beneath the bleakness

It gave new life to me.

“I cannot take these from you

The burdens that you bare

But I can show you a new way

Just leave the anguish there”

So I followed her, my keeper

And trusted her, I did

To keep me from the darkness

Where previously I hid

The winter sky will sing to you

Then the flowers and the trees

New life and beauty every where

Focus, trust these.

So when I feel myself being taken

To the places I don’t want to go

I look for her everywhere

And I can feel myself let go

When my body became numb

It was only then that I could see

How truly bright, extraordinary

Each color, now I see

Because color is my keeper

And this is how it came to be

Somewhere, in depths of darkness

She came to see me free.
