Color Blind

See me

By Kirk BodhainePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

don't

Don't look at my skin color,

Don't look at me that way.

Don't assume I am different,

Don't turn and walk away.

I wish you wouldn't judge me

By the color of my skin

I wish our skin was opaque

To see each other from within.

Take the time to know me

I have values just like you

I have dreams and aspirations

Full of love and passion too.

See me as an equal,

Don't convict me for my race

We just had different starting lines

But we're heading to the same place.

Don't hate me, get to know me

Be color blind for a day

Don't hurt me or my children,

Don't turn and walk away.

Accept me for my person

Have empathy for my strife

Accept my hand in friendship

We can have a better life.
