Color Barrage

Be All That You Are

By wendy higginsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am a barrage of color

I was born free so I can be

I live each color with whole heart and soul

So one or even two won't define me

See I’m so black and so proud

But that can't be all ‘cause I won't let it

Best believe that my life matters

I'll be damned if I let you forget it

On my knees I’m green and white

Allah is who I strive to please

I was taught to have mercy and kindness

Because to the right path they lead

Now watch me be a whole rainbow

I have pride I don't care if you see

Cause with all my heart I love another

Who could be the mirror image of me

As my barrage continues check this blue check this pink

For these children who love me the most

I was there for their very first cries

For all of their greatness I get a chance to boast

Man my neon yellow is so high vis

local crew work is hard but Im union strong

Those artists are safe as their stages look great

Because the show it must go on

I am So glad I live in the land of the free

For so much elsewhere could be deadly to do

But I am free to be the barrage that I am

I’m so red I'm so white, and so blue

Very few people have read my writing. I'm excited to see if what is in my soul can transfer to paper and mean as much to others as it does to me.
