Maya Angelou is one of the first names to come to mind, when I think of a phenomenal black woman. Her autobiography titled: "The Heart of a Woman" is an inspirational birds-eye-view into her life and relationships, primarily between her and her son.

Destruction is an Act of Creation
The world has a way of grinding you down. Or it does me. Commitments to other people and projects, work, writing, life in general, all have a way of getting out of balance, turning easy tasks into obstacles, making mountains out of molehills, and generally sullying an otherwise pleasant day or disposition. Not that finding a perfect harmony between commitments is possible, I am not even sure it’s desirable, really, when the hectic-ness of life is what makes taking a break from it so satisfying. Or, again, at least that is true for me. I suspect I am not alone in this, however.

What Is A Poem?
What is a poem? May as well ask, What is a bird? If your answer is, A creature that wants to fly, you are in the right place. Some consider the purpose of poetry is merely to create of mundane thoughts something poetic, a sort of polemic or didacticism or biograph dressed up in Sunday clothes. The creation of something poetic is, rather, a consequence, not a purpose. If you wish to give a sermon or a speech, do. However eloquent, this is not quite a poem.

My Quarantine Project
Preface I wanted to enter this writing challenge on photo editing, but felt I had nothing to contribute. I am 48 years old, and I sure tried to keep up with technology at first. It has changed so quickly over the decades, though, at some point I simply gave up trying — probably somewhere around Mac OS 9.

Poetry is a form of art that is a collection of words that express an emotion or idea, sometimes with a specific rhythm. A poet is someone with a creative mind. Expressing emotion that can't be spoken or expressed verbally. A creative mind setting it all out on paper.
