Colder the Wind

Warmer the heart

It's raining, and a fog descends,

all corners of this house

feel empty, all alone,

where did joy go,

is it still hiding in the attic

of happy afternoons

and fairies?

***

I wish, I dive,

I strain to see

a glimmer in the ocean

beyond my island, yours,

beyond what I expected

what I found,

memories stray in doubting crossroad,

I walk on, and I stay,

I want to leave,

but can't let go.

***

Look up; there's still a season

to be happy again,

in time, in flowers

every petal

knows of what came to pass,

embraces rain,

hail doesn't end a blessing,

storm cannot chase the wind

away.

***

Whisper again

kind words and dreams

to butterflies,

they're here,

waiting for a chance,

the way to shine into sunlight

is still open in hail,

this lifetime isn't done

adding smiles

in each twilight rain.

***

Forgotten for a second,

brought back in soul

the wish to be

and tell,

to sing another song

words flow into sunshine,

smile blooms again,

each corner

wakes up, ready to hear

the tale of never-ending love

it started now, just yesterday,

it adds wings to your spirit, mine,

together in our happy place

we made it home,

our own.

***

In lingering on sill

you learned it wasn't time

to pass into the shadow,

you walked inside green breath

forest called you back on its wings

you can fly among branches,

clouds may have left you

in a sigh,

look to ivy embrace

find that old smile,

still you,

new to this day,

warming sunshine

to soul.

***

Moonflowers and the light

dancing without stepping

too high, too hard, too low

touch leaves in twilight prayer,

may it all come to be

as you have wished

and loved

foretold.
