Colder

A son losing his mother.

By Thomas HawkinsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Just frozen...

Never once thought I That you’d be gone In the cold blink of an eye Like summers past you moved on.

But mother to son Like always drawn Apron strings pulling As night unto dawn.

I held your hand As your soul burst free You’d raised a man And again you’re leaving me.

The rain it fell In sheets outside To give semblance to hell That I felt in my mind.

My mother my dear Close and far somehow Nothing more to fear She’s finally home now.

This work is dedicated to my beautiful mother who passed away just over a year ago. Rest in Peace Mom.
