Cold Day, Warm Comments

Inspired by and dedicated to Aspen Marie

By Paul StewartPublished about a month ago Updated about a month ago 1 min read

Today was cold

The heating bust

A pipe burst

I wonder

If the temperature

Is cold

There

Where you are

I saw a tree

You'd turn it

Into art

I think

So much

about how

experiences

Mistakes made

Lessons learned

Frame everything

I wonder

If I played

My favourite song

If you'd

Hear in it

Something different

To me

If colours

Truly are the same

Through our different

Lenses

I am grateful

For our transatlantic friendship

In the comments section

Reminded as I am

Of your humour,

Your humanity

And love

For the

Sacred

And profane

That sprays

From my mind.

Thanks for reading!

I came back to read this today and it warmed my heart to the deepest corners. Thanks again, lovely Paul ☺️

It's a wonderful thing to be able to share such a deep connection across a great distance, and your words truly capture the warmth of that friendship even on a cold day.

It's so nice that we have made such connections via vocal. It is a flawed site, with much to improve on, but I am so glad real humans can make real connections!

  • Delightful poem & cute photo!🤗 I especially like & wonder similar things: “ I wonder If I played My favourite song If you'd Hear in it Something different To me If colours Truly are the same Through our different Lenses”🤔 Hope the heating is fixed… we need the fans on here in Oz.😉

What a friend we should all have. Good job.

The way you weave small ordinary moments with big emotional truths is so distinct to your style. This is simple but deeply heartfelt.

Wonderfully different type of poem from you. I love your source of inspiration. Aspen Marie truly is a talent and this piece speaks volumes about the connection strangers can build across oceans through our shared love of writing. Hope tomorrow is a little warmer with no burst pipes. (Coincidentally, I was reading this when my assistant manager text me about a leaking pipe at the restaurant.) But also, that dog is freaking adorable.

Lovely poem! Your soft stuff is just as good as the edgy, which is a tough balance! (Plus really cute dog!)

Well if this isn’t the brightest spot in my week, I might perish from joy! Thank you, my lovely lad!!! I passed you one back 😁

I love this! Want to send an empty bix to a US address?😉 Congrats on your bonus. Bastids don’t interact enough with me.

This is quite a pleasant surprise. This is about as soft and fluffy as your versifying gets, Paul. I loved the reflection of another’s art in your own. Well done, me Laddie!

It's warm here though! Ok, not so bad...the December monsoon's making the heat more bearable! But a nice warm comment for you, and a lovely poem!
