Cocaine for Kids

a poem

To a sensitive system sugar

is cocaine. Overstimulating

for the brain. Triggering dopamine

clouds to rain and for euphoria

feels to replace pain. Cravings kick in

when it starts to wane. Desperation

to consume more of the same. Crashing

down equal to whatever felt gained

and frustration rises once again.

Parents begin to scold and blame and

relationships begin to strain as

hormone levels are now insane. New

addicts bred into life's game, thanks to

damaging their developing brain.

Refined sugar definitely feels like a drug. It affects your hormones, and causes insulin resistance. Nice work.

  • Too much of anything is always damaging. Men and women need a lof of education before they become parents. Loved your poem!

I love the emphasis you put on those words. This gives me major “dopamine nation” vibes and im here for it.
