The Feelings of Home

By Alyssa MussoPublished about a year ago 1 min read
The Ovens Natural Park, Nova Scotia

Squawks of the gulls punctuate the crash, boom, and fizzle of the waves as the water rushes over the sand,

Leaving a clear divide between the touched and untouched, the smoothed and jagged with every push and pull.

The soft breeze sprinkles spray across my skin as the coolness of the ocean rolls over my bare feet, a refreshing reprieve from the summer heat.

Salt stings and bites at my tongue, a briny taste lingers on my lips, but it is one that I welcome.

A deep breath and an inhale of air laced with nostalgia, notes of sweet beach roses and warm cedarwood, remind me that I am home.
