Clowning Glory

Too the ones who fake and whose lives may be at stake.

By Rowan Finley Published 6 years ago 1 min read

He had no place to hide, except behind his jokes,

deep inside, he was just a hoax.

He was the biggest, funniest clown,

though in his soul he wore a frown.

Rattle off the tomfoolery

and buffoonery.

No one would have ever guessed,

that he struggled and was depressed.

He was everyone's favorite person,

but all he felt was himself worsen.

He lived as his own greatest enemy,

and from no one did he gain empathy.

Because no one knew, or saw through his act,

it was just a sad, sad, pitiful fact.

Until there was a prophet in the rough,

who finally saw the truth and cared enough.

To speak up and notice this actor,

was going down hill and that sadness was a factor.

"You need help...and you need it fast,"

were the words timely spoken with such a blast.

So, to seek counsel he finally went,

money well worth it and well spent.

It's insane how long we can live lifeless,

when life is really so precious and priceless.

Peel off the actor's mask,

and take time, to, yourself, ask.

Am I true to myself and to others?

Do I succumb to worlds worst smothers?

Breathe, relieve, let-live, give and take,

otherwise, you will find that you may break.

Like a chandelier that swung and broke,

into a thousand pieces, in one falling stroke.

It's a reminder that even the most vibrant masks can hide pain! Do you think more people would open up if we made a point to look beyond the masks people wear?
