Closer to Suns

closer to home

we were supposed to be closer to chaos

from the stuff of disorder we were cast

we are a stream of pure consciousness

the vision is wide the reach is vast

press the button at the appropriate time

you wait; it will be like watching tele in a dream

you won’t even need to imagine the jackboot

violent silence forever with fresh screened screams

we were supposed to be closer to suns

from the stuff of light we thrive and grow

absorbing both the light and the dark

chasing eternal shadows as we glow

an overwhelming crescendo of finely tuned curses

this time they have truly outdone themselves

only looking when there was nothing to find

we didn’t start to get lost until we found ourselves

Absorbing both the light and dark. That was really deep! Loved your poem!

“An overwhelming crescendo of finely tuned curses”— wow. Beautiful line. I’m still thinking about this one, unraveling the intricacies of each verse and tying them into a larger meaning. Very profound writing.

  • Fascinating and thought provoking. This would be a great 1st page for a science fiction story. Well done.
