Cliché, But it's True

Home is truly where the heart is.

By Hannah HessPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

Hopping off the plane, running, to the

open arms of my mother,

melting in her embrace,

everything bad in the world disappears.

important moments like these,

someday will be no more.

time spent, laughing with friends,

roasting marshmallows on the campfire with my niece,

undeniable moments of joy,

love,

yearning to stay like this forever.

waiting with my grandma in the hospital bed,

hand in hand,

everything will be okay,

remembering the days spent running around the house in her slippers,

eating all the cookies out of the cookie jar.

tears of joy, celebrating,

how much I've overcome in life,

everything I've achieved.

home follows me wherever I go -

evening walks through the city,

aromas in the air that bring me back to a certain time and place,

reminiscing about childhood memories,

true nostalgia.

it's not a place, but a feeling.

savor the moments in which those feelings arise
