How quickly from warm earth do flowers spring?

As by the clement air my skin coerced-

Enchanted by the sunlight called to sing,

While heat of beating hearts beget a thirst.

____

Once filled, a glass’ purpose bears a date,

And stagnant pools of water doom’d to spoil.

So by the shifting banks now clear’d the fate,

In gurgling and the itching of the soil.

____

With wisdom of the sand take heed of days.

For as within the core degrees compound,

More bright and scorching is the season’s blaze,

As louder grows the cool air’s rumbling sound.

____

How wry that darkness should the flame ignite;

More haunting are the echoes for the light.
