Fall rain

turns into clumps

of frozen white

snow slowly falling

to the ground

covering the

red and orange leaves

until they

slowly disappear

under a blanket

of heavy wet snow.

********

Little voices

whispers echo

through the classroom

as children

glance away from

the daily lesson

to the window

as their eyes

follow the path

of the drifting flakes

as they fall to the ground.

*******

A small smile

creeps to the corners

of the teacher's lips

as she watches

the student's

excitement build

like the inches

of snow building

on the resting ground.

*********

No lesson

would be successful today

as the children

press their noses

against the

glass panes

of the classroom

with wide eyes

and with the hopes

that are to come

with the Holidays

activities with

family and friends.

*******

Thanksgiving

turkeys

made from

little hands

colored or painted

to take home

to decorate

their home

with turkey day

splendor.

*******

Glitter

glue sticks

red, green and white

paper form

new decorations

for the walls

of my littles

homes.

********

the last bell tolls

and holiday

vacation begins.

well sugared up

children

scurry to put

on their winter boots

grab their

newly made treasure

as they rush

out the door

with Merry Christmas

ringing down the hall

as they pass by

their friends

with expectant smiles

and excited banter.

*******

With a sigh

I sit back

with an exhausted smile

as my eyes

glide over

the aftermath

of the holiday's party.

Well done,

I think to myself.

Well done,

my kids,

my students,

have the best

start to

their holiday.
