The dawn is an imprint on my eyes
The stars and the dark sit in my heart
I know I’m near the sunrise now
Even if we feel miles apart
•
Morning is a friend I always knew
But didnt love, till my world turned blue
But I have the practice that makes it okay:
I’ll get up to see you every day
•
The taste of coffee on my tongue
Nothing on my grateful feet
I walk inside your hushed embrace
I make a picture in the street
•
No one knows what’s between me and you
Like the grass in my toes and its holy dew
An oath stirs my heart, and I know it’s right:
I’m going to keep you for the rest of my life
•
I wake, and you reset my clock
Start the time all over again
Washing away all the pain and fear
The night I lived in, the years I spent
•
The light of morning strokes my eyes
By now, the feeling’s no surprise
And it hits me as I open the door–
I will dance to your rhythm forevermore
