Cigars and Holding Your Breath

Looking for a way to exist.

By David AlemanPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

Feeding time is always fun when you know what is to come

Sitting there with much salivation sucking on your thumb

Take a breath and swallow hard for salvation is your food

Not taking in what teacher said is really rather rude

Do I do it, do I chance it, maybe?

Growing up in a world of pain where every penny matters

Where all your dreams like dominoes just fall and left in tatters

“Be a man“ they will tell you boy but what then do you do?

You grow and be a useless toy and behave as if in a zoo

Go on do it, you know you can!

Take a chance, a change of heart the only choice to give

Because even though it's tougher now you really start to live

Step back my boy and see the world for it offers very little

Your family love your life itself is worth total committal

Apotheosis, change be great and live

So break now son out of your shell and show us who you are

Ride the wave of ecstasy and shine just like a star

For now, you’ve broken all the molds and made yourself a man

And puffing on a thick cigar my son, you have done just what you can.
