Chronicles of A Phoenix

It is just great to find someone who does not want to cage you, but actually wants to free you.

By Edward Banele ThelaPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Only with you

My flame burns the brightest.

I met some fools

along that beaten path.

Who tried to convince me

I was burning up

from the inside out.

See, they all wanted

to put out my flames,

Stop the blaze,

Shut out the mystic inferno;

They played firefighter

In my life,

Made it illegal for one

To burn this way.

I had to stay home

And calm myself down,

I had to stop that burning smile

and those flaming eyes

Causing that flaming stare.

I had to learn to put

My fire out.

So I could stay alive

In the world of less extremities

And less firestorms.

I had to look like

I never knew what fire was.

Up until the day I met you.

See, you let me out,

You told me, it is okay

For one to burn this way.

As if you let me off the leash,

You opened up the cage,

And let me spread my wings

And lit up the entire forest into flames,

And the sky was covered in smoke

As ashes flew at all gates.

You told me,

I can't let them put the fire out:

I can't let them put me down.

You made me realize that

It can't happen

Because, not only am I

Engulfed by flames,

but I am the flames;

Me and the fire are one.

If it dies I will die too.
