Christmas In Heaven

Our love one’s still come home for a day

Christmas In Heaven

Christmas still happens when love has gone,

that laughter does not stop when bodies die.

I set a chair where absence usually sits,

and the room feels fuller than before.

You do not knock, you never have to,

you arrive the way memory always does.

The tree lights flicker like quiet signals,

as if someone is answering back.

I cannot see you, yet nothing feels missing,

the air holds warmth I cannot explain.

Grief loosens its grip for just one night,

and I breathe without apologising for it.

When morning comes, the chair is empty again,

yet something has changed inside the quiet.

Love does not leave when people do,

it only learns a different way to sit with us.

    Beautifully-penned Marie!

Totally agree with this one, Miss Marie. There are plenty of times throughout the year along with Christmas that I feel that I am not alone, but still comforted. Good job.
