Christmas Comes Once A Year

Scrooge-like, a tear here, a smile there, late shopping and wrapping this year, oh Dear.

Mother Combs said: I would also like to encourage my readers to share ten Christmas Facts about themselves with us. It can be whatever you want, as long as it concerns the Christmas season.

1. My favorite Christmas movies are Hallmark Christmas movies. I enjoy everyone, even though Hubby says they are all the same storyline. I enjoy all the decorations, and how love is in the air. The whole story.

2. My favorite Christmas song is All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth. I don't want to lose my teeth and have to wear fake teeth. I do tire of Christmas carols that start too soon, like in November.

3. I do not drink eggnog. I haven't since I quit drinking alcohol. No desire to. Warm apple cider or hot chocolate will hit the spot on a cold winter's night.

4. I limit sweets at Christmas as always, except when I make his mother's fudge recipe that came from the cocoa box of years past. That is a tough one to not eat too much of.

5. I don't think The Elf on the Shelf is a thing with the grands, at least I don't hear about it. I hear about it from others once in a blue moon.

6. I was Santa Claus in my preteens/teens to siblings who were 5, 10, and more years younger.

7. I watch Hallmark Christmas Movies. Sometimes over and over again. I find them funny and tear-jerkers and I get my laughs and tears. I can't help it, Mother Combs! I know you do not like Hallmark Christmas movies.

8. I love Christmas Decorations. The lights, the tree, everything. I love it all. It always goes up late and down too fast in my house. With the hubby, I have to use the grandchildren are coming, we need to put them up!

9. I went out caroling when I had a husband that liked to sing. It was a fun experience. The group we went with were great and all good singers.

10. I enjoy giving gifts way more than getting gifts. The hubby gives gift cards to everyone on his side at Christmas. I try to give everyone a gift. Our family is so huge it is tough to do this so I told my kids that unless I see the grands, I probably won't give them a gift. It cuts it down a bit. But then I feel Scrooge-like.

Christmas comes once a year.

I have seen many a tear

when someone didn't get what

they wanted. I saw all the nuts

and candies, the candied walnuts

I got a magnified mirror

one year. Perfect for practicing a jeer.

or fixing a makeup smear.

This year I am behind on my shopping

as I have not been ready, or my wrapping.

I am way behind on what's happening.

Christmas Eve and night aren't what's

up anymore as we are celebrating

on different dates with different family.

how did this happen? Everyone is busy

with immediate and second families.

It isn't the same at all and covid contributed

to the way it is today. As long as celebrated

happens sometime together I'm happy.

Christmas comes once a year.

Lol, although I love horror, I too love Hallmark Christmas movies. They're almost always the same kinda plot but it makes me happy. But I cannot watch them again and again like you do, lol.

It's fascinating to learn about your Christmas traditions and favorites! Hallmark movies seem to hold a special place in your heart, despite others claiming they follow a familiar pattern. Your affection for Christmas decorations and your willingness to be Santa Claus for your siblings speaks volumes about your holiday spirit. Also, your enjoyment of giving gifts shows a heartwarming generosity. It's true, Christmas is ever-evolving, and each family's celebration has its unique dynamics, especially with the changes brought by recent times. Your reflections capture the essence of adaptability and the joy of togetherness during the holiday season.
