Chores

A hard days rest

Awake on a Saturday

When it is cool we mow the grass

Up and down the acers

Slowly pass by pass

Once finished now the weeding

First in the front, next the side

Up and down the flowerbeds,

No undesirables can hide

The sun creeping higher

Into the sky it will rise

Heating up the day

A ballcap to protect the eyes

Small lunch to now slow down

The progress made

And on to the back

For there are stones to be laid

Together, a jigsaw puzzle

The outcome yet unknown

Together, to move

The wide and heavy stone

The afternoon flies by

And the progress can be seen

More hands make less work

And a proud parent’s eye, a gleam

The day’s work now done

The sun setting low

A glance of the evening

With a new patio

Showered and clean

Washing the sweat, dirt, grass, and dust

On to dinner

Extra meat and cheese is a must

Now, exhausted and full

Crawl into bed

The cool linens comfort you

And asleep before the pillow hits your…

nature poetry

About the Creator

D.D. Schneider

Writing is a hobby of mine, only a hobby. There are so many perfessionals out there, I'd rather keep the joy in the hobby than compete as a professional.
