Surrounded by an aura of
Radiant star-warmed air
Giving off steam like wispy hairs
I can almost hear my solid, frozen bones
Sizzle and crack in the light of the morning sun
On this nearly winter morn
I am observably colder than
The November silence
Holding me hostage
A hoary frost patch starts to form
On an exposed portion of skin
Steadily growing
Crystalizing fabric and flesh alike
Gloves and coat offer no protection
Swaddling grown cold and stiff
Hardening my thin pink shell
Until I resemble nothing more than
A raspberry Sourpatch Kid
Pulled from the car cushions
And gleefully shattered by
A bored child on the cement
Swept away, on an icy wind

I didn't realize I wasn't subscribed. I am now. This is yet another stunning poem by you! Keep them coming. 💜
Oooo, hoary is a new word for me. Loved your beautiful poem!
K B I like how steam was described as wispy hairs. Very easy to imagine. ❄️'Bones sizzle and crack in the light' it does give me a good sense of how cold it is and how it affects the bones. Colder than the November silence. Love the progression. ❄️Thin pink shell. Loved that 👌🏾 Raspberry sour patch kids was a playful but vivid representation. ❄️I like how the image of you disappeared, like it was being swept away on a icy wind. This was outstanding, vivid and highly effective in its flow and word choice. 🤗🖤❤️
