Children;
They dance and sing their songs,
Throwing their hands in the air,
Laughing as they dare,
But, Dear Adult;
They are vulnerable,
Oblivious to the dangers that lurk,
With no fear,
They might get hurt,
They cross a road without a care,
And speak to strangers,
They have no fear,
They walk in their own, sweet world,
Imagining a world full of magic,
Kindness and love,
Dear children;
They have no idea of the dangers that
our world throws in their way,
They do not understand pain,
war, blood, or death,
They believe the world is made of cake,
Unicorns and rainbows,
But even a unicorn can turn evil,
Dear Parents;
Parenting is sometimes hard,
But take a moment to look into their sweet eyes,
Watch their sweet smiles,
And feel your heart as they sleep,
They are the children of the earth;
Our next generation,
Born to right this evil world we created,
Even though, sadly, they may not succeed;
They may struggle to climb the hills we made,
And they may pay for the crimes we forced upon them,
We alone find this world tough to live in,
We found it tough when we were kids,
We can only do our best,
But we must teach them what is right,
We must not hide them from this cruel world,
Instead;
We must nurture them with love,
Discipline them with compassion,
And watch them as they grow,
Only then will our children,
Become mature adults,
Responsible enough to live their lives,
And make this world a better place.
