The story of green

Green is the colour of the flag on my walls

Green is the mess in my apartment halls

Green is the card my family obtained

Green is my car, zipping down the lanes

All my life I see the colour green

And I think to myself “what does it mean?”

Apples and bananas and all the food I eat

And I realize green is a wonderful treat

It’s Christmas and Easter and all things bright

It’s the light in my room that stays on all night

It’s music and vinyls and all things swell

It’s the turtle I care for with his green shell

See now I know green is the colour of nature

Trees of my home where I’ll return in the future

I love my home and all the green flavour

My home is Jamaica, and it’s green forever
