Child of Mine

Learn from the little...

By Jennifer Bogert Published 6 years ago 1 min read

How I love you child of mine,

More than I can say;

You make me laugh, you make me smile

You brighten up my day.

And when the sun has gone to bed

I watch you softly sleep,

Wondering what’s in your head

As you dream so deep.

Are you from another world?

Have you been here before?

The more I learn the less I know

Yet you always sound sure.

Happy and content to play

Running around for hours,

You hardly tire or complain

These are your superpowers.

And as we grow through life we learn

To be more like a child

Open to each experience,

To be free and wild.

And if I have another turn

On this merry-go-round called earth

I hope you can be the parent this time

And I the child you birth....

I pray I have your innocence,

You’re quirky take on life,

Your happy grin, your carefree smile

Your resilience to strife.

How I love you child of mine

You make my world complete,

And I’ll love you ‘til the end of time

Thank you for being so sweet!
