Cheese Bait

From The Workshop Collection

I always knew this could happen that

For this little brat

Wearing a pathetic hat

When he sat

With the cat

Watching the cheese, attacked by the rat

Rodent acting cool

Being an immature fool

Wanting to make a score

Bringing the tease back through the wall door

There he goes

Twitching his nose

Taking the bait

Our friendly watchdog, he couldn’t wait

For the snapping to begin

Signaling a deadly win

Peering down

From the food chain King, relishing the killing sound

All the deceased wanted was a little pleasure

Resulting in reality no one could measure

A broken neck

No insurance check,

Doing a job getting no respect

Later that night

I did get a fright

When an illusion did appear

Carrying a vengeful haunting spear

“You took my life

I was going home to my wife

When you did this to me

What did I do spoil your afternoon tea?”

Shaking and shiver

I did, hearing the news when delivered

From the mouse ghost

Who ended up toast

Enjoying happy hour

Of a snacking fetish showing power

Sneaking around

Not noticing everything was going down

When reality struck

Rat was unable to duck

Needing someone to blame

When he lost the game

That is when

I rose to defend

My position

Hoping the dead corpse would listen

Being told his mission

Chasing cheese and having fun

Was done

Suddenly he went back into the wall

Not accepting anymore cheesy call

To come out and give a scare

Since I would tell God the truth

And the almighty would hit the roof

Sending the menace back to earth

Returning to birth

As a little brat

Wearing a pathetic hat

With his cat

Hoping the rat

Gets it good

When the spring hammer hits the wood
