Chasing The Past

I Fell Into The Future

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I’m afraid I may never take flight

Caught in a plot twist of happy endings

That are forever lost in a lie

Chasing the past, and always pretending

*

Tripping, I fell into the future

A work of fiction exposing things deeper

Surface smiles surrendered true nurture

Rescue that girl and sweep her away

*

Happiness is more than illusion

A place deep inside where safety guards the door

Away from the noise and confusion

Granting peace of mind offering more

*

A chance to renew the hopes of yesterday

Revived in-the promise that tomorrow brings

Believing the words my heart longs to say

In the letting go of dying things

surreal poetry
