Chasing a Train

Sure,

We'll meet at the tracks,

I'll have our dreams tucked in my backpack.

You can pack our fears in a carry-sack.

We can dump them easier that way if they get too heavy.

I don't know if I have everything I need, but I'll never be more ready.

We have to wait for the train.

I kissed my family goodbye while they were sleeping,

I know we're both scared-- so I'll hold you if you begin weeping.

Here it comes,

It's loud and its lights are almost too bright.

But it's our future, so grab my hand--

Hold on tight.

You have to jump on the train.

You let go of my hand, but maybe you'll catch me at the next stop.

Is that your plan?

The lights coming were enough for me to hop on.

Maybe they only seemed right to you after they were gone.

The sun isn't out in our hometown, it's pouring down rain.

Drop the carry-sack.

You have to start chasing the train.
