What if I left everything to chance,
Lingering and waiting like a doll in a shop?
Maybe I just want to dance.
Maybe more often I should take a backward glance,
pause for a breath, take a moment to stop.
What if I left everything to chance?
Perhaps it’s high time for me to change my stance,
and change my stride to a skip from a hop.
Maybe I just want to dance.
Instead of walking, henceforth, I’ll prance—
move from place to place in a sideways dirty bop.
What if I left everything to chance?
It’s time for me to advance,
break these chains, make this merry-go-round stop.
Maybe I just want to dance.
I’ll admit to being in love with romance,
flying high as the sky into a death-defying drop.
What if I left everything to chance?
Maybe I just want to dance.

Wouldn't it be magic if more people danced down the sidewalk? I'll admit, I'm guilty of walking as fast as I can. I especially liked this visual: "and change my stride to a skip from a hop."
I love how the repeated lines feel like a heartbeat, turning uncertainty into something almost musical. It leaves you with the sense that choosing to “dance” might be its own quiet rebellion.
Rather beautiful!
