Chamomile Tea

Day 37/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

I still have

these sachets of chamomile tea

that a stranger

bought for me

when I was in hiding.

She said,

”everyone deserves a little comfort”

that was eight years ago.

I use them sparingly

like change

saved up for a rainy day

but for a different

kind of gray.

When I am lonely

or weary

I brew a cup

of freely given

generosity.

I wish I could tell her

how many times

her small act of kindness

has saved me

with empathy

and chamomile tea
