Chameleon

Look Close

By Vicious AvaricePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Look at me

And watch my hand

Follow lies

Of mice and man

Take your comfort

In my eyes

And when I’m gone

You’ll be surprised

I can make you see me different

Your favorite qualities I’ll accent

Showing you the man you seek

Speaking in terms quite oblique

Your eyes tell me what you want

And body tells me what to flaunt

I dance the dance until I’m through

And when I’m done, you’ll miss me too

I blend in any form of crowd

Group of friends or party loud

I’ve long since lost who I once was

Memories lost in mental fuzz

I may have always been this way

Never black or white, but gray

Perhaps, this is what I desired

Created from attention’s fires

All that matters now it seems

Is faking smiles and petty schemes

One day I’ll either find myself

Or fade away entirely

fact or fictionsurreal poetry
