Celestial Witness

Tsuki, Yue liàng, Chandamama, Luna, Dal, Lune.

Buwan, Ay, Qamar, Maan, Moon, Dal, and Mond.

How many billions of eyes seek you out each night?

How many fervently beg your mercy, weep and cry?

and how many giggle, whisper, and excitedly confess through the night?

How many betrayals, trysts, and secrets have you watched?

For eons now, you've watched this world grow, evolve, and change.

That day I cried to you on the bitter edge of the sea -

I was done, I'd had enough, and I made a silent fervent plea.

You still answered by shining down -

Highlighting me for God to see.

That night, your light comforted me

as a stranger sat down next to me in the sand.

"Hey mate, you okay? You look troubled, friend.

I'm an ear and I am here for you to bend."

You bore witness and reflected off the placid surface,

and told the tide just when to catch the tears that stained my face.

And when you bid me farewell as the sun began to rise,

He stood up as you sank and disappeared into the light.

I felt betrayed when I realized my life did not end that night.

But that angel in disguise did more than save my life,

he gave advice and helped me make a plan.

Look at me over a decade later, here I am.

Safe, growing, healing, and grateful.

My life is full.

My life is bright.

I am grateful to you for that night.
