Help me control the rage and
Take my hand so I know you’re there.
Walk me to the bus until I know my way,
Teach me to hold my head high and
Reach for the sky.
Spin me around,
Help me feel stable.
Teach me to speak for myself and
Learn to ask why.
I know I make you angry
When you think I don’t try.
Praise my efforts
No matter how small.
You don’t know how much time I spent
Making that letter.
I know I am tough,
Loud,
Rough,
And Angry.
I need your help and
I want to be better.
I promise I’m worth it
If you just keep at it.

My New Book is Finally Here
My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself. But it's finished, and I'm still standing, and the book is real.
