They are still chasing you
Decades since your last race
Following your ghost around
The bones of Hayward field
Like laps of liquid mercury
Running towards your old records
Shaving seconds off their times
But refusing to shave their faces
Adorning themselves with
Your mustache and sideburns
Like armor earned
Trying to catch your
Rock star qualities
Reaching for your influence
On and off the track
Watching you court the
Goddess of victory
With bottled lightning
Flicking off your heels
The single O on your breast
Becoming five rings
The herald Hermes
Lighting the way
To our own limits
Stop Pre
Stop so that we might catch you
