Carvings and Stones

Ancient Welsh countryside

Standing proud like ancient warriors

The carved wooden statues don’t move in

the ever increasing breeze,

As the rolling Welsh hills look over us, nestled in the valley below.

What ancient people have been here before us

Working their way across fields and mountains until they find their prize.

Welsh blue stone, hard strong and unyielding,

Older than all of us they have been waiting silently for them;

These rugged people, weather beaten and hard as stone too

Will transport these stones to a place

Where magic will happen and people will gather

In summer and winter they will watch these folk celebrate the passing of time and seasons with each rising sun.

The journey begins now, to this place of great mystery

A circle of stones as isolated in their majesty

As the windswept plains they stand on.

Permanence in these wooden carvings

Like the stones of the henge

Where life wraps around them,

from birth to the end.
