When you look in the mirror

What do you see?

In this funhouse of contradiction

What I see is me

A man in all but image

In name and name alone

The voices in my head would agree

That there’s naught to do

But when I look in the mirror

All I see is you

The way you smile

The way you laugh

The cool reflection

Of life and emotion

Reaches out and grabs me

And for once I can breathe

This carnival we call living

Has taught me to appreciate

All the sights and sounds

That our technological world is no substitute

For touch, smell, and taste

I’m finally learning how to be me

I’m learning how to finally see

inspirational
