Can You Relate?

Stupid Love

By Lia JohnsonPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

Can You Relate?

You ever been in a relationship that starts out like all the rest.

You're in stupid love.

You think you've found the one.

One of the best.

Endorphins are flowing.

This love,

Feels like a drug.

Forcing out of character actions.

Jealousy creating crazy reactions.

When usually you're not a jealous kind of person.

The amount of love you instantly felt for another,

Is a little frightening.

When you begin to feel out of control.

You desire to control.

Unintentionally,

The games begin.

Before either of you have realized its happened.

A constant game of cat and mouse.

As if it's fun.

For anyone.

When two people simply desire to be loved and cared for by one another,

It's not.

Its hurtful.

To both parties.

What you thought was love,

Begins to feel painful.

Which is anything but love.

You not only question this partner,

You begin to question love itself.

Developing terrible coping mechanisms.

All the scabs from the past,

Are being slowly peeled off one by one.

Everything seems to become painful.

Not just the love.

Even the inflated desire to just simply be loved.

Loneliness creeps in.

Especially without trust.

So alone.

Even your friends that try to help.

Can't seem to change your feelings.

With all their love and valuable advice.

So we turn the attention towards ourselves.

Self care in massive quantities.

Shopping.

Tanning.

Nails.

Spending money we don't have to make sure this guy knows we're the best.

We aren't like the rest.

We starve ourselves in every sense of the word.

Desperately seeking approval from another.

Or the exact opposite.

So full of ourselves that there is no room for another.

There is nothing new to learn.

You can't teach me anything.

When I already know everything.

Continously competing.

And repeating.

Repeating all of these steps when the next one comes along.

Assuming our picker is broken.

Without understanding why we are initially attracted to one another.

Love isn't there to comfort you.

True love,

Teaches you.

In one way or another.

People have to actually care,

To even be penetrated.

Contrary to popular belief.

To truly penetrate another,

Or make a difference in their life,

It begins with true love.

The problem is most do not know love at all.

And never have.

In fact,

Some like myself,

Are terrified of even trying anymore.

Taking or self serving.

Because each and every experience is so traumatic.

Leaving a forever lasting impression.

When you're broken at a young age,

Seems like the rest of your life is spent trying to undo the damage.

So that it not only doesn't hurt you,

So that you don't go on to hurt each other.

It's the last thing most of us actually want to do.

That's why some,

Run from love.

You can run but you cannot hide.

It's in our destiny.

It's part of our purpose.

You cannot fulfill it without out love.

As hard as you may try.

As much as you think you know better.

It will continue to teach you.

In ways you could have never foreseen.

More than between two people.

Or lovers.

Or a mother and child.

Its something that words give little meaning.

To fully describe what is happening.

Not even close.

We're not even close to understanding.
