I need, right now, the number to demonstrate

Herodotus says the ruler made a bowl to abandon

the memory of a number. We don't have a clue about the number.

We couldn't say whether it was separable by a few.

I need, right now, the number to demonstrate

a proportion, part of an extent, on the grounds that the estimation

of the earth relies upon this, the equilibrium among things,

the snow at the lower part of the slope, the gold carport light

confined in a tree, my adoration for my companion and the distance

between us, which I can't bear.

I made a pinhole camera to exhibit the extent,

also, all that brilliant drifts on its smooth eye,

furthermore, here is the list of what floats there

more modest than itself: the blue skyline and the scramble

at the stoplight, a shell night light, the looking ball

of the sun going down against the white back wall,

which made it seem to be Night in the Forest lit

from under the wax. I held these things

recently, alongside two pearls that are circles

swinging from my lounge roof.

My companion is more modest now, and on the off chance that I held my camera up

as far as she might be concerned, she would radiate sufficient light to float

pocket-sized in my grasp, and fabulous on the planet.
