Call Of The Savage Heart
A poem by Jason Morton

In dark and shadowy places, where love's flame yet burns,
I tread a vicious path where anguish forever yearns,
In these eeriest depths, where desperation takes hold,
This is where I seek out the inferno, for there is where love's tale unfolds.
With my trembling heart and only courage as my guide,
Forward I venture to that place where demons reside,
Through the smoldering embers of burning hearts and the sizzling heat,
I march on, resolved, with blistered feet.

Flames take it all as they dance and sway,
Their symphony of torment leaves just shades of gray,
The hottest of the firey pits cannot deter my determined soul,
Love has a fierce calling, and on me, it's taken its toll.

Each step I take brings me closer to my pact with fate,
A vow to withstand this hellish place's infernal weight,
The searing heat sears my very core,
Soldiering on, I press, and I hunger for more.

The air thickens with the stench of despair,
Echoing cries that hang in the fiery air.
I shield my eyes from the searing glow,
As I search for the one I yearn to know.

In the abyss of torment, I find my prize,
A vision of beauty amidst hell's disguise.
Her eyes, once gentle, are now ablaze with fire,
A burning desire, an eternal pyre.

Our souls entwined, like twining vines,
We embrace amidst the infernal signs.
In this realm of anguish, we find release,
For love's eternal flame grants us peace.

Though demons snarl and shadows sneer,
Our love's light conquers, fierce and clear.
In this realm of torment, we become one,
Defying the darkness, until time is undone.
So let the flames lick and the torment swell,
I'll walk through hell for love's magic spell.
For in the heart's depths, a fire shall ignite,
And together we'll conquer the eternal night.
Nothing stopped the call of your savage heart,
Through the gates of hell for you I did walk, I knew I would from the start.

I enjoyed this , what some would do for love
Unbridled yearning, searching & passion, powerfully emotive.

Wonderful images! Great job with the rhyming too 😉
Romance is alive and well in the masculine species! Well done.
