In these four walls where shadows cling,
Time stretches thin, like a broken wing.
A world outside, so near, so far,
Dreams confined to a cold steel bar.

Each breath a whisper, soft, restrained,
Echoes of freedom, slowly drained.
Memories dance in the darkened night,
Fading embers of a distant light.

The sun may rise, but it doesn’t shine,
On hearts locked up, left to pine.
Hope wears chains, heavy and tight,
In the silence of a forgotten fight.

Tears that fall, unseen, unheard,
A caged bird’s song, a lonely word.
In this place where the soul must bend,
Time is the foe that will never end.

But even here, where sorrow stays,
A flicker of hope in the darkest days.
For every night, no matter how long,
Must bow to dawn, soft and strong.
