The moment we walked in the door of our classroom, my teacher started telling us to get out our textbooks. Her voice was beyond annoying. I must have done something terrible to have to start my day with her every day. It’s literally the worst punishment in America. I’m probably over-exaggerating. We have to read chapter 4 of our textbooks and write a short summary. I promise you that I couldn’t be less interested in reading. I only came to school for lunch and recess. Everything else, I’m mentally not there for it. Just an hour left until some sunshine.

3. The bus ride every day is pretty much the same. We hit the four more stops around town before actually heading to the school. It’s too early to be there joking and playing around. I usually can be caught catching a few extra Z‘s before I’m forced to sign my life away for the day. We get to the bane of my existence and the first thing Jill and I do is go get breakfast. Some days, breakfast is bomb and some days it’s terrible. It’s really hit or miss today. It was all right. Let me throw away my trash so I can head to the homeroom.

Seconds ago, the sullen sun set on the two of us… my exuberant furry companion and me. A fresh breeze embraces us, delivering welcome relief from the day’s oppressive heat. His typical stumbling and staggering along — apace with a sloth — has turned into trip-trapping, high-stepping, almost skipping along.
