I saw that you had bloomed
with the sun's first
rays of morning
your delicate beauty
and demure demeanor
belying your durability
your ability to survive
harsh conditions
when others have not
your thorns a stark
contrast to your
soft white petals
each one
perfectly cupped
perfectly placed
perfectly lovely
a symbol of goodness
of purity
of love
you may never be
in a florist shop
or at the local store
to be considered
and taken home by
an admirer
no...
but you'll be in my garden
where I can gaze upon
your delicateness and
quiet beauty while
admiring your strength
until one day
your beauty will fade
and your petals will weaken
and crumple
but I'll remember
when you opened your
beautiful white petals
and I saw you
in the early
morning light.
