The worst kind of pain comes from expectations
Be it mutual or one-sided
There’s no telling when either is the case
We navigate through life most times like blind men without a cane
No matter how prepared we are, something comes at us like cold water before sunrise
Recognizing that we’ve messed up is barely enough
There’s still lingering pain and shame attached to it
Even though it’s no fault of ours
But how can we beat the human nature of guilt
Do we go on carrying a truckload of guilt
Or do we pretend not to be affected by it?
