Buzzing, Buzzing Voices

Swirling 'Round My Head

Buzzing, buzzing voices swirling 'round my head,

Begging for their stories to be told.

Some that creep and some that weep,

Too much for my brain to hold.

Putting pen to paper, I try to sort the noise,

Picking through the din one at a time;

It's hard to think, I'm on the brink,

weaving plot and rhyme.

Still they do not silence, as more appear each day,

Laden with their troubles and their tales.

To me they speak, to me they wreak

Havoc beyond the pale.

Dragons and knights with their maidens fair,

Heroes and monsters grim,

Prince or knave, to me they rave

Tearing me limb from limb.

With so many stories to tell, there is

No rest for a writer, I fear:

I love them all, both small and tall

Each one like a child so dear.

There are times where their voices are too much,

And I would prefer they were gone;

But deep in the night, or in moments of fright

I rejoice that I'm not alone.
