You tried to kill me

I will survive

You stole my life from me

Clapped me in irons and chained me to a fate of pain and loneliness

You cut down my every dream and every hope

You burned my wishes and showed me my family charred from the flames of your bitterness

But I survived.

And I will survive through the darkest nights and the fiercest storms

I will survive through the coldest betrayals and the most painful losses

I will survive all those knives you send spinning my way

I will survive.

You used to shoot arrows

Making a target of my heart

But I caught them all

Let them pierce the flesh of my arms

And litter my limbs with scars

But not once did you ever reach my heart

I survived.
