Burning

.

By LTPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

They say I bring a light

A brightness that shines through

Lighting up a room

Bright and bubbly.

They don’t see what simmers beneath

The light is not what they perceive

It is a fire

Burning hot and angry

They see the light they want to see

A light I allow them to see

Not the fierce flames

The pure hatred raging

It thrashes inside my soul

Burning deep in the marrow of my bones

Caging next from the inside

A prisoner of my own making

A fire burning in me

So strong and white hot

A hatred so pure

It slowly sizzling against my being

I burn and burn but never scream

I smile politely and laugh

Because all they see is the brightness

Not the source of the light.

I just write what I feel. Sometimes it’s short. Sometimes it’s long. Sometimes it rhymes. Occasionally I write stories. But mostly poetry.
