Burning Down Babylon

a free verse poem

Creation groans

under the yoke

of this artificial life.

.

The senselessness,

the falsity of it all,

hawked like counterfeit wares.

.

Duplicity, complicity,

in high and low places.

Strangers to shame, one and all.

.

Chasing our “truths”

like a tail that was

long since cropped.

.

Naked emperors

vying for a throne

of fool’s gold.

.

All empires end.

One day there will be

an end to all empires.

.

What is now a mere

spark, an ember,

will one day be an inferno.

We reap what we sow. A tired phrase, but still very appropriate for describing the world. This piece is fantastic. "Duplicity, complicity, in high and low places. Strangers to shame, one and all." Ugh, ain't that the truth?

Seems like too much artificial intelligence out there, in computers and humans
