Buried

in the backyard

By Ariana GonBonPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

I buried my poems about you in the backyard

You whose heart I broke

You whose heart I want

You who I wish would break my heart

You who I remember vaguely

You who changed my morals

You who made me stick to them

You who I loved

You who I love

Me who buried the poems under a bugambilia tree

Multicolored flowers

Sure in itself

Reaching down to make compost of my pen and paper

Eating up the love I’ve felt and forgotten

Except on summer days when limonada is the only refreshing thing

And I think of digesting you
